G'Day from Burton Didj

Nathan's Yirdaki's /Didjeridu's are meticulously handcrafted Australian made superior quality tuned musical instruments.

They are made from naturally termite hollowed native Australian Eucalyptus trees harvested from the Northern Territory. Burton Didj's are renown for their unique bell sizes, tapering into small mouthpieces, that allow for optimum backpressure, awesome acoustics, ideal resonance and extreme volume. All Burton Didj's are individual and carry the Burton stamp of authenticity. This is burned into the bell end of every Burton Didj.

SORRY

On Wednesday 13th February 2008 the Australian Government lead by the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said sorry to Indigenous Australians for the past injustices, especially to the Stolen Generation.

This was an emotional momentous event in the history of this country. Burton Didj's supports and encourages everyone to actively get involved in bringing about change to the inequalities that exist between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Donation to Close the Gap Campaign - Oxfam Australia

In December 2007 Burton Didj auctioned a Yirdaki autographed by Xavier Rudd on E-Bay.

The final bid was $2026. Congratulations Simon Hulls, pictures and story coming soon.

Although I am a very small family based business I have donated $800 to Oxfam Australia Close the Gap Campaign.

I believe everyone can make a difference no matter how small the action seems.

This campaign aims to demand indigenous health equality within a generation.

You can make a difference and help bring about change by, donating, sign the pledge or buy a t-shirt.

All of the above and more about this campaign is available online www.oxfam.org.au/closethegap

Message from Nathan - February 2008

G' Day Everyone,

Good to hear (13/02/2008) the Australian Government finally acknowledged the stolen generations injustices. The Prime Minister Kevin Rudd make a formal apology to begin the healing process. This made me feel proud to be apart of a united Australia, that can move forward and celebrate in the amazing qualities of the first people of this country.

I have donated $800 from the auction of the didj in December towards Close the Gap- Oxfam Australia, a non profit organisation aimed at indigenous health and closing the 17 year gap between Indigenous and non Indigenous Australians. I am proud to be involved in making change.

New stock coming shortly, I am currently chipping away at some exquisite raw logs (harvested from the Northern Territory) I am really exited about a handful of these Instruments that have great promise of becoming dream Didj's !

As mentioned above Djalu is holding his master class this year in Nhulunbuy (Gove) in Arnhem Land.

For those of you that aren't aware of Djalu, he is the custodian of the Yirdaki, (didjeridu). He is a highly respected elder of the Galpu clan and is also a Grand Master Yirdaki craftsman (Arguably the greatest yirdaki craftsmen ever) and whom taught me how to craft Yirdaki's many years ago. A life changing experience for anyone wishing to attend. All the details above and on ididj's website.

To all my existing customers I trust your Burton Yirdaki's are performing at their best, keep up the playing and enjoy the earthy vibe that only a didj can bring!

Until next month

Peace Nath
